Poker has been around for around 500 years - a pretty good innings in the world of gambling. In addition to odds and strategy Poker provides the added element of human psychology as players desperately try to read their opponents and second guess their moves.

There are scores of different versions of Poker but very simply the basic game rules are as follows: Players are dealt a hand of three, five or seven cards. They will permited to discard some of these cards in exchange for cards from the dealer or from cards from the table community pool.

Once each player has settled on their hands then the rounds of betting begin as players wager according to the Poker hand rankings. The best players will be able to fool their opponents by bluffing and playing straight to through their fellow players off the scent.

The game culminates in a showdown between the players with either the best hand or the best bluff - it's often impossible to tell.
