The word Craps derives from the traditional French game of Crapaud. The game was most likely imported to Europe and the Americas by slave traders who first encountered the game in Africa 200-300 years ago.
The Craps board may appear complicated but once you know the basics you'll realise that the Craps board simply displays the betting options on the outcome of a roll of a pair of dice. Before the roller or "shooter" throws the dice, the players place their bets on the table.
The most common bet is the "pass the line bet" where players bet on the likelihood of a 7 or 11 dice total, producing a 2:1 payout. Should the shooter roll a 2, 3 or 12 then he loses. If he rolls any other total then he must pass the dice on to the next player. There is a wide selection of other betting and rolling options that are all featured on the Craps board.
